What Makes Our Clinical Model Different
Movement is integrated into every clinical hour, across PHP, IOP 3, IOP 5, and Trailhead. Most Denver outpatient providers run talk-only groups. We don’t – because the research is detailed: structured exercise directly counters the nervous-system disruptions of substance use, reducing craving intensity, supporting dopamine recovery, improving sleep, and stabilizing mood.
Our clinicians are dual-credentialed: licensed therapists (LPC, LCSW, LPCC, CAS) plus NASM-certified trainers, Precision Nutrition coaches, or trauma-informed somatic movement specialists. The same clinician facilitates the movement block and the clinical group within the same session.
How We’re Built
- Movement as medicine – built into PHP, IOP 3, IOP 5. Not OP (talk-only by design).
- Dual-trained clinicians – therapy and fitness from the same clinical team.
- Seamless continuum – PHP → IOP → OP under one clinical team at one clinic.
- Two payment paths – in-network with major commercial plans or Medicaid.
- Same-day admits — if you’re ready to start, we can start today.
What We Treat
At True North Recovery Services, we understand that every individual’s journey through addiction recovery is unique. Our licensed addiction counselors and mental health professionals conduct comprehensive substance abuse assessments to provide accurate diagnoses or work with your existing diagnosis to create a personalized addiction treatment plan.
Below is a list of substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions we treat, each supported by evidence-based interventions:
Therapies We Offer
Our therapy programs are designed to align with your symptoms, personal preferences, and recovery goals.
Somatic therapy focuses on the connection between the mind and body. It helps individuals become more aware of physical sensations – learn how stress, trauma, and emotions are stored in the body, using movement, breathing, and mindfulness to support emotional regulation.
CBT helps individuals recognize and change unhelpful thought patterns and behaviors. By understanding how thoughts influence emotions and actions, clients learn practical skills to manage cravings, stress, anxiety, and everyday challenges more effectively.
DBT is a skills-based approach that helps people build emotional regulation, distress tolerance, mindfulness, and healthy communication. It is especially effective for managing intense emotions and reducing impulsive or self-destructive behaviors.
Evidence-based therapy refers to treatment approaches that are backed by scientific research and proven outcomes. These methods are selected because they are shown to be effective in supporting recovery, mental health, and long-term behavior change.
Our program uses structured physical activity as a therapeutic tool to support mental and physical health. Regular movement helps regulate stress, improve mood, reduce cravings, and restore balance to brain chemistry affected by substance use.
Narrative therapy helps individuals explore and reshape the stories they tell about themselves and their experiences. By separating the person from the problem, clients can build a stronger sense of identity, meaning, and empowerment in their recovery journey.

What makes True North different?
Movement is integrated into every clinical hour. Across our PHP, IOP, and Active IOP, structured gym time is built into the clinical schedule – not an add-on. Our clinicians are highly credentialed and offer lived experience. The only program that’s talk-therapy-only is OP, our step-down level.
What types of addiction treatment programs do you offer and how long does it take?
We offer multiple levels of care, including Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP), Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP), and supportive recovery services designed to help individuals build a sustainable recovery. The length of treatment varies by individual, but many clients participate in structured care for several weeks to several months while building long-term recovery skills.
What substances do you treat?
True North Recovery Services works with individuals struggling with alcohol, opioids, stimulants, prescription medications, and other substances. Treatment plans are personalized based on each client’s needs.
How quickly can I start?
Same-day clinical pre-screens are common. Walk-ins are welcome at our Denver clinic. For private insurance, intake is typically same-day or next-day once insurance is verified.
Do you accept insurance?
Yes. We work with many major insurance providers, including Colorado Medicaid, and can help verify your benefits to determine what services may be covered.
Do you provide detox?
No. We do not provide medical detox at True North. We coordinate with Denver-area detox partners and admit you into PHP, IOP, or Trailhead after acute withdrawal is medically managed.
Do you treat men and women both?
Yes. True North Recovery helps both men and women battling addiction and mental health issues.
What makes your program different from other treatment centers?
Our program integrates evidence-based therapy with a strong focus on somatic healing, physical movement, fitness, and whole-person wellness. We believe recovery happens through both mind and body.
Do I have to stop working or going to school to attend treatment?
Not necessarily. Our outpatient programs are designed to help people receive treatment while maintaining responsibilities like work, school, and family.
What happens during a typical day in treatment?
A typical day may include group therapy, individual counseling, wellness activities, recovery skill-building, and physical movement such as gym sessions or outdoor activities.
Is addiction treatment confidential?
Yes – protected by HIPAA and federal substance use confidentiality regulations (42 CFR Part 2).
I'm a family member. Can I call on my loved one's behalf?
Yes. We work with concerned families every day. Start with our resources for families.
Can family members be involved in treatment?
Family involvement can be an important part of recovery. When appropriate, we encourage family participation through education, support, and communication.
How do I get started with treatment?
Getting started is simple. Reach out to our team for a confidential consultation. We can answer your questions, verify insurance, and help determine the best next step.
Are there any exclusions?
True North Recovery Services strives to make treatment accessible to as many individuals as possible. However, there are certain circumstances that may require a higher level of care or specialized services before enrollment. Admission decisions are based on clinical appropriateness, safety, and our ability to meet each individual’s treatment needs.
